Hotel Boscolo Budapest, Autograph Collection *****

General

Reception and welcome:    The reception is amazing! The hall is the most beautiful hall I´ve ever seen in a hotel, well, at least one of the most beautiful. Welcome is very friendly and nice as well.
Welcome drink:    Nope, there was water next to the reception though.
Free upgrade:    No, I actually asked too, but the hotel was supposed to be fully booked.
Valet and parking:    Yes, there is. It wasn´t free of charge though. But valet was very professional, polite and friendly.
Concierge:    Yes, and very professional.

Breakfast

Sparkling wine:    Yes!
Hot meal:    Yes, but you had to order it separately, though some of the warm meals were in the buffet too.
In general:    The breakfast is in the café, in a level below. So you can imagine how beautiful it really was. It felt like in the old times, so classy!

The room

In general:   Well, when we got to our room, it was a bit of a WOW effect and not in a good way. May-be it was because of the fact that last time we were there, we had this really amazing rooms, with balcony and great view. This time we took the Classic room, so please, never do that mistake, we were actually thinking the night before, whether we pay 400 more to get the Executive rooms, but we didn’t and we regretted that from the moment we stepped into our rooms.

First, the rooms were really dated and dirty. Meaning that the carpet had lots of stains, the curtains were ripped and sewed back together, like seriously you cannot even buy new curtains? Furthermore, the air conditioning did not work, we had to open the window to get some air. I am so sorry I did not make a picture of our view, because it was to the closed courtyard and it was a bit spooky in the evening.

Even the bath had stains. I am actually not trying to be mean, but when the room service asked are we happy with our rooms (we had just arrived at the room and had ordered ice), when I didn’t tell then anything, just that it is OK, they saw my face and told that yes, they can understand why our faces are like that, you could see from their faces that even she felt embarrassed about the rooms. Honestly, the first hour, I searched for another hotel, till my sister told that, let’s just go and get some champagne, maybe we’re just tired. We weren’t! 😀
Room type:    Classic rooms – http://budapest.boscolohotels.com/rooms-suites-budapest
Surprise in the room:    Yes, how awful the room was, also complimentary water.
iPhone dock:    No or maybe I didn’t see.
Blanket and the blanket case:    Yes and yes.
Carped:    Yes, fully carpeted, but stained carped.
Amenities and bathroom:    There were, but the bathroom was really dated.
Shower curtain?    Bath, which had stains in it, so it looked dirty so I’d never take a bath there.
Are the TV speakers in the bathroom too?    No.
Bath salt and bath:    Yes and yes.
Slippers and robe:    Yes and yes.
Free WI-FI:    Yes.
Air conditioning:    Yes.
Afternoon service: Yes.

Hotel area (spa, dinner etc)

The hotel itself is amazing, the building is old and greatly renovated. There is also a spa in the hotel with quite a big pool and some saunas. That was great, the water in the pool was warm too. I actually really enjoyed the spa area.

Limousine Service was spectacular – he was amazing, by him I mean Adam Birkas – we chose restaurant at first, but he told that we should have a reservation, which we of course did not have, so he quickly called the place, understanding that the restaurant is fully booked, he searched us another place. Because of his connections he could get us a table in a matter of minutes. So we highly recommend to get in contact with him, when you want to use transfer from the hotel. 🙂

Location:                    It wasn´t that close to Donabe River, but the location wasn´t bad, though we travelled by taxi the whole time.

I visited:                      July 2016.

Would I go again?      Never again, this time we were in between Ritz Carlton or Boscolo, we chose Boscolo because of the great time we had there the last time, but unfortunately we will never go there again.

Value of money:          Too expensive for this room.

Purpose of the trip:      Vacation.

Nights:                         2 nights.

Rating

Luxury:    6 out of 10.
Drive through:    9 out of 10. It is a nice hotel just for drive through.
Webpage:                    http://budapest.boscolohotels.com

P.S. When you are choosing between the Boscolo Residence or Boscolo hotel, then the Residence building looked quite not so good. Although it is cheaper, I would not choose it, because of the building and location, but I haven’t seen inside the Residence, just judging a book by its covers. 🙂

The hotel in general and the breakfast:
